Male Garganey at Swanpool today

I checked out Swanpool today and was pleased to find a drake Garganey feeding near the reed bed end of the pool.  It was very close and uncharacteristically tame.  In addition, the female Long-tailed Duck was also there and approaching summer plumage.

Adult Greenshank at Point today

I took both these images in virtually the same place; the upper one today and the lower one eleven months ago.  Perhaps the same bird as there has been a single Greenshank here all winter.  Who knows.  Anyway, Greenshank always make a decent subject to photo and Point is one of the easiest places to photo them.
